Four skaters -- Carli Jenkins, Lindsey Flood, Emma Wiedmaier and Vickie Karolenko -- competed with their Bowie Metroliners teammates in the Juniors category, competing Thursday and Friday. Making their second straight appearance at the nationals, the Metrolioners recovered from a rocky start dotted with what Michael O'Haver described as "uncharacteristic falls" in their short program with a "perfect performance" in the freeskate to finish 14th at Tsongas Arena.

First place honors went to the Hockettes of the Ann Arbor (Mich.) Figure Skating Club. Chicago Jazz finished second, followed by Detroit-based Team Elan.

According to O'Haver, when it came time for the Metroliners to skate their long program Friday afternoon, you could quickly see in their expressions and the determination in their eyes that they had something very different in mind for us all. He said they skated with such tremendous speed and energy that they received the loudest cheer and a standing ovation from many in the audience. "They had vindicated themselves, skating what was essentially, a perfect performance," said O'Haver."
