May Gold!!

   It was Gold all the way for the Production and Syncho Teams of the Piney Orchard Figure Skating Club in their last competitive performance of the 2009 season. The team had a great weekend and took home the third place overall trophy from the 32nd Annual Spring ISI Competition, a 2-day event hosted by the Fairfax Ice Arena in Virginia. For many team members it was their first participation at the Fairfax event.
    Individually at the Delta level Peyton Behling, 6, of Millersville earned a Bronze medal, and Kylie Bulger, 6, of Crofton, earned Silver. Kylie also earned a Gold medal for Spotlight Delta, and together Peyton and Kylie earned their 5th Gold of the season for Couples Spotlight. Gold medals were also taken home for Couples Spotlight High for both Regan Ellis and Lauren Bulger, and for Lauren Risher and Niki Newcomb. Regan Ellis, 8, of Odenton earned individual three Gold medals for FS5 Artistic, Spotlight and Interpretitive. Ten year old Sarah Jane Levine of Ft. Meade wore home a Bronze medal for Interpretative FS4, while 10 year old Lauren Bulger of Crofton a Silver for Solo Comp FS4 and two Gold medals for FS4 and Spotlight FS4. Two ten year olds of ShipleyÕs Choice also took home medals, Erica Rosasco, a Bonze for FS4, and Allison Fortney, two Golds for FS4 and Spotlight FS4, as well as Silver for Interpretative FS4. In the 11-year olds level, Katelyn Wilbur of Odenton earned a Silver medal for FS4, Sydney Behling of Millersville two Gold Medals for FS5 and Artistic FS4; and Lauren Donnelly of Hanover, Silver for Spotlight FS4 and Bronze for FS4. Ashley Strong, 12, of Millersville, earned two Bronze medals for FS5, and Artistic FS5; Emily Roberts, 13, of Gambrills, a Silver medal for FS4, and Alex Newcomb, 15, of Odenton wore home a Gold medal for Spotlight FS4.
    The Piney Orchard Ensemble Team of Niki Newcomb, Alex Newcomb, Lauren Risher, Amanda Pumphrey, Sarah Kelly and Rylie Nobis as well as individuals Ashley Strong and Lauren and Kylie Bulger and for couples. Niki Newcomb and Lauren Risher have been busy with bake sale and jewelry fundraising in gearing up to compete in the ISI National Competition in Orlando, Florida over the Memorial Day weekend! There team members and families wish them all well!
