April Ice Brings...
April was another full month for the members of the Piney Orchard
Figure Skating Team who competed in two Ice Skating Institute Competitions, the District
IV Championships at the University of Delaware on April 4th and 5th where the team placed
4th overall, as well as hosting and competing in their home competition at the Piney
Orchard Ice Arena on April 19th where they placed 1st overall.
The "It's Time to Skate" Production Team captured 2 more Gold medals, while the
Icettes Sr. Youth Synchro Team captured 1 gold and 2 silver, with the
Starlettes Jr. Youth Synchro Team 2 Silver medals.
Several individual team members competed in one or both competitions including in
the 6 year old category Kylie Bulger, of Crofton, who carried home two Gold
medals, 1 in the Delta category and 1 in Spotlight Delta, along with a Silver medal
also in Delta; Peyton Behling of Millersville took home both a Gold and Silver
medal in Delta, and Peyton and Kylie together took two Gold medals for
Couples Spotlight. Also in the couples spotlight division Alex Newcomb and
Rylie Nobis took home both a Gold and Silver medal; Lauren Bulger and
Regan Ellis a Gold; Lauren Risher and Niki Newcomb both a Gold
and Silver; and Jennifer Christie and Kaitlyn Wilson a Gold. Individually
8 year-olds Molly McAteer of Annapolis took a Gold and a Silver for FS2; and
Regan Ellis of Odenton, a Gold and a Silver for FS5 Spotlight, and 2 Silver
Medals for Artistic and Interp FS5. In the 10 year old categories Riley Roche
of Severna Park earned a Silver medal for FS1; Lila Perry of Crofton, a Bronze
for FS3; Lauren Bulger of Cofton, earned two Golds for individual FS4, and two
Silver medals for Spotlight and Solo Comp FS4; Madelyn McAteer of Annapolis took
two Golds FS4; Allison Fortney Millersville, took two Silver medals for individual
FS4, and two Golds for Spotlight, and Interpretive FS4; Sarah Jane Levine of
Ft. Meade, wore home two Bronze medals for individual FS4; Cailin Brown of Crofton
took a Bronze for FS4; and Erica Rosasco of ShipleyÕs Choice two Silvers for FS4.
In the 11 years old categories Lauren Donnelly of Hanover, earned a Gold and Bronze
for FS4, a Gold for FS4 Spotlight and a Silver in Interpretive; Rylie Nobis of
Crofton took a silver for Spotlight, and Bronze for FS4; Katelyn Wilbur of Odenton
took a Silver and Bronze for FS4; Ally Yates of Glen Burnie earned a Silver and
Bronze for FS2; Samantha Scott of Severna Park a Silver for FS3; and Sydney
Behling of Millersville, took home two Golds for FS5 and a Silver for Artistic FS5.
Also, 12 year olds Ashley Strong of Millersville took home a Gold and a Bronze
for Artistic FS5, a Silver medal for Individual FS5; Grace Bloomfield of Sherwood
Forest a Gold for FS6 Interp; Margaret Brown, 12 of Annapolis, a Gold medal for
FS4 Spotlight and a Bronze for FS4. Medals were also earned by Emily Roberts, 13 of
Gambrills, a Gold and Silver for FS4; Audrey Simmons, 13 of Odenton, a Gold medal
for FS4; Jennifer Christie, 14 of Stevensville, a Gold for FS6; Alex Newcomb,
15 of Odenton, took the Bronze in FS4 Spotlight; and Kaitlyn Wilson, 18 of Pasadena,
a Gold for Artistic FS6.
At their Piney home competition in their divisions three 3-4 person Jump and Spins Teams
took home Gold medals, the Piney Faries, Ice Angels and Blue Bells,
three teams, the Piney Ice Jocks, Pink Ladies and Free Spirits took
Silver medals, while a Bronze medal was earned by the Piney Penguins.
The Piney Orchard Ensemble Team of Niki Newcomb, Alex Newcomb,
Lauren Risher, Amanda Pumphrey, Sarah Kelly and Rylie Nobis
we well as some other individuals and couples are gearing up to compete in the ISI
National Competition in Orlando, Florida over the Memorial Day weekend.
